SSOE is seeking a Senior Technical Professional with extensive experience in Data Center Design to: 

  • Lead data center design delivery from Mumbai for US projects 
  • Act as the primary technical and coordination lead with US teams. 
  • Build and manage a core multidisciplinary team (Architects, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical engineers, BIM/CAD) in Mumbai.

Responsibilities

The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

 

Technical Leadership– Data Centers 

  • Support review of end-to-end design of data centers (concept to detailed design and construction support).

  • Review the MEP, architectural, structural, civil aspects of data center projects.

  • Review designs meet US codes/standards (IBC, NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, Uptime concepts, redundancy N/N+1/2N).

  • Review and approve drawings, calculations, and deliverables from Mumbai team.

Team Building & Management

  • Hire, build, and grow a multidisciplinary team in Mumbai.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and architects in data center and mission-critical design.
  • Manage workload, quality, and performance of the Mumbai data center team.

US Coordination & Project Delivery

  • Serve as key liaison with US-based project managers and technical leads.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of data center design packages from the Mumbai office, ensuring on-time, quality deliverables.
  • Coordinate schedules, deliverables, and quality expectations with US office.
  • Support proposals, design narratives, and documentation for US data center clients.
  • Implement processes, standards, and QA/QC for projects executed from India.

Practice & Capability Development

  • Help establish the Data Center design capability within the Mumbai office as a long-term, scalable function supporting multiple projects.
  • Contribute to development and refinement of internal design standards, libraries, and guidelines for data center projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data center design and bring this knowledge into the organization.
  • Support internal training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications

What will you bring?

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Structural) or Architecture
  • Master’s degree is a plus

Experience:

  • 12–18+ years in building/industrial/mission-critical design.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Data Center Design (hyperscale /enterprise).
  • Experience working with or for US-based firms / US projects preferred.
  • Proven track record in a leadership/managerial role handling multi-discipline teams.

Technical Skills (mix as applicable to discipline, but familiarity across is preferred):

Knowledge of:

  • Data center power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, grounding.
  • Cooling/HVAC for data centers (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, containment, etc.).
  • Structural and civil aspects of data center facilities and site development.
  • Redundancy and reliability concepts (N, N+1, 2N architecture).
  • Familiarity with US codes & standards (IBC, NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE).
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and discipline-specific software (e.g., ETAP/SKM/HAP as relevant).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team-building capability.
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Comfortable working in a global delivery / US time-zone overlap model.
  • Strong ownership, problem-solving, and decision-making.
