As part of our commitment to innovation, all team members will be trained on Microsoft Copilot and empowered to use it as a core tool in their everyday work.
As a Structural Designer at SSOE’s India office, you will develop and detail structural elements including steel framing, reinforced concrete foundations, struts, and platforms in line with design mark-ups and engineering direction. Your work will leverage advanced modeling tools such as Revit for BIM coordination and detailed drafting, and RISA for structural analysis and load calculations. You will prepare designs and drawings ensuring compliance with project specifications, including seismic and wind loading criteria, working closely with project engineers to integrate structural systems with architectural, MEP, and process disciplines.
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
● Develop detailed structural drawings including sections, elevations, and component details for industrial and high-tech facilities, ensuring consistency with design mark-ups and project specifications.
● Perform routine to increasingly complex structural design assignments using RISA and similar analysis software, for strength, durability, and serviceability.
● Model and coordinate BIM deliverables within Revit, integrating multi-disciplinary inputs from architecture, MEP, process, and civil/structural teams to maintain Clash Detection and coordinated design packages.
● Collaborate with project engineers and discipline leads to develop and refine project execution plans, control revisions, and document changes through formal change control workflows.
● Participate in client technical reviews and design review sessions, presenting deliverables and responding to client comments to ensure design alignment and satisfaction.
● Assist in QA/QC processes including peer reviews of design packages, verification against code compliance, and maintaining documentation for quality assurance audits.
● Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements, leveraging Microsoft Copilot AI tools for productivity, and adopting cutting-edge digital workflows.
● Support project closeout activities, including compilation and turnover of as-built drawings, design certifications, and structural calculations required for commissioning and startup.
What will you bring?
● Diploma in Civil discipline from an accredited institute. Diploma or bachelor’s degree tracked in CAD/BIM Design Technology or related field preferred
● Possess 4-8 years of relevant structural design experience in AEC/EPC environments.
● Demonstrated proficiency with Revit (BIM modeling and coordination), and RISA structural analysis software.
● Proven ability to interpret design criteria, review fabrication drawings, and prepare detailed construction documentation consistent with EPC project deliverables.
● Effective collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams including architecture, MEP, process engineering, and construction personnel.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with project engineers, clients, contractors, and vendor teams.
● Familiarity with safety requirements and procedures in industrial and high-tech facility environments.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks within defined deadlines and contribute to quality-focused project delivery under supervision.
● Must be adaptable to work during evening hours to ensure communication with stakeholders in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience designing structural systems for heavy industrial plants, cleanrooms, manufacturing platforms, or high-tech laboratories.
● Working knowledge of advanced structural design and modeling tools beyond RISA, such as Tekla Structures.
● Prior involvement in constructability reviews, commissioning, and startup activities in industrial EPC projects.
● Exposure to reinforcement detailing, steel connection design, and foundation design including pile caps and mat footings for heavy equipment setups.
● Demonstrated mentorship experience or leadership roles supporting junior engineers and drafters.
