Technical Leadership & Quality
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all engineering disciplines within the India office
- Ensure consistent application of engineering standards, design procedures, quality processes, and best practices across all disciplines
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of discipline-specific standards, workflows, templates, and quality management systems
- Facilitate technical reviews, peer reviews, and quality assurance processes for major projects and deliverables
- Promote innovation, digital engineering, BIM, and emerging technologies
Stakeholder Management & Global Collaboration
- Build trusted relationships with Engineering Leaders, Project and Operations Leaders, and Business Unit Leaders across SSOE's U.S. offices.
- Participate in strategic planning and resource alignment discussions with U.S. stakeholders.
- Act as the primary engineering leadership interface between India and U.S. operations.
- Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration across global teams.
- Resolve organizational and project delivery challenges (pertaining to India deliverables) across multiple geographies.
- Promote knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and best practice adoption across the enterprise.
Global Capability Center Leadership
- Lead the development and growth of SSOE's India Engineering Capability Center.
- Partner with U.S.-based engineering, operations, and business leaders to align India capabilities with business needs.
- Establish India as a trusted, high-performing extension of SSOE's global engineering organization.
- Drive standardization and consistency in engineering delivery across global teams.
- Build organizational capabilities that enable increased project execution from India.
- Promote collaboration, transparency, and accountability across geographically distributed teams.
- Strengthen cross-border relationships that improve project outcomes and client satisfaction.
People Management & Talent Development
- Manage, mentor, and coach engineers, designers, section managers and department managers within the group, providing regular feedback, guidance, and support.
- Identify strengths and development areas of team members; create and execute individual development plans and career paths in partnership with HR and corporate Training & Development.
- Partner with Department Managers, Section Managers, Operations, and HR on hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staffing decisions for your engineering team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, safety, quality, and accountability, where team members are engaged and empowered to contribute ideas.
- Lead, coordinate, and participate during talent review process for the DMs, SMs and engineering / designers’ group.
- Build a strong leadership pipeline capable of supporting organizational growth
Resource Planning, Scheduling, and Workload Management
- Work closely with Operation Managers, Project Managers, Section Managers and Department Managers to solve scheduling and resource allocation challenges.
- Facilitate development with inputs from relevant stakeholders. Monitor project work schedules and departmental workload forecasts, ensuring alignment between staffing, skill sets, and project priorities.
- Use your technical expertise to ensure the proper staff are allocated effectively across multiple projects, disciplines, and business units, balancing workload to maximize efficiency.
- Explore ways to prioritize workstreams and resolve resource bottlenecks to maintain high operational standards and exceed client expectations.
- Monitor delivery performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Support operational excellence initiatives that improve productivity, efficiency, and project outcomes.
Cross-Office Collaboration & Best Practices
- Coordinate with other SSOE international offices to ensure that project teams can share resources, tools, and best practices.
- Help standardize workflows and improve inter-office communication, ensuring that all teams are aligned toward common objectives.
- Champion knowledge-sharing practices, including post-project reviews, lessons learned, and reusable content/templates.
Business Performance, Budgeting, and Proposals
- Support senior leadership in achieving key business goals, including financial performance and profitability.
- Monitor profitability at the client, project, and (where applicable) department level; work with teams to identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements without sacrificing quality.
- Play an integral role in the annual business planning and budgeting process for your area, including forecasting resource needs, anticipating challenges, and proposing realistic budgetary solutions.
- Support proposal development through technical guidance, staffing strategies, risk assessments, and execution planning.
Technology, Tools, and Innovation
- Partner with Corporate & Information Systems (C&IS) and other stakeholders to drive decisions regarding hardware, software, and emerging technology needs for your team.
- Ensure teams are equipped with modern tools that enhance productivity, coordination, and engineering precision.
- Promote thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, Abacus) and other automation to continuously improve efficiency and quality.
Project Sponsorship & Client Relationships
- Serve as the project sponsor for designated high-priority projects, providing senior-level support to project managers and technical leads.
- Ensure project teams remain focused on client objectives while meeting scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.\
Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned
- After completion of each major project or milestone, participate in or facilitate post-evaluation reviews to capture lessons learned.
- Ensure insights are shared across teams and translated into updated standards, processes, and training content.
