Overview

Position Summary

SSOE is seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Chemical / Process Engineer to support the design and delivery of advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities and other high-technology industrial projects.

 

The successful candidate will lead the engineering of sophisticated process utility systems including ultra-pure water (UPW), specialty gases, chemical distribution, and waste handling systems while collaborating with multidisciplinary global teams. This individual will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, support business growth, and contribute to the development of engineering standards and innovative design solutions.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, technically challenging projects across semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, battery manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer products, and other advanced industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 15+ years of relevant process engineering experience in industrial or high-technology facility projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of process systems, fluid mechanics, utility infrastructure design, process safety, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to independently lead technical tasks, review deliverables, manage priorities, and work with global teams across time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and lead process design from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.
  • Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, calculations, reports, and design packages.
  • Perform practical engineering calculations including hydraulic analysis, line sizing, pressure drop, pump/NPSH, heat exchanger sizing, PSV calculations, surge checks, and thermal expansion calculations , PSV calcs .
  • Ensure deliverables meet client requirements, applicable codes/standards, QA/QC expectations, schedule, and budget commitments.
  • Coordinate effectively with piping, mechanical, electrical, I&C, structural, architectural, procurement, vendors, and construction teams.
  • Participate in HAZOP, safety reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and technical issue resolution.
  • Support project managers with scope clarity, resource planning, progress inputs, technical decisions, and change control.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support India team capability building through standards, templates, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support client meetings, technical presentations, vendor discussions, proposals, and business development inputs as required.

    Work timings– Morning 08.00am to 12noon IST and evening 08.00pm to 12:00am IST.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Process design, PFD/P&ID development, equipment sizing/selection, hydraulic modeling, pressure drop analysis, pump and heat exchanger calculations.
  • Process utility systems: UPW, specialty gases, chemical distribution, bulk chemicals, waste collection/treatment, cooling water, and vacuum systems.
  • Process safety, risk assessment, multidisciplinary coordination, design reviews, QA/QC, and construction support.

Software / Tools

Hydraulic modeling software, pipe stress analysis tools, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite. Exposure to AI-enabled engineering workflows is preferred.

Codes, Standards & Industry Exposure

Working knowledge of applicable ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, CGA, ISA, OSHA, SEMI, environmental/safety regulations, and Indian statutory requirements.

Preferred industry exposure: semiconductor manufacturing, electronics/high-tech, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, battery manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer products, and industrial utility infrastructure.
